Washington, Tuesday 16th April 2024 – Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister for Finance and members of the Ghanaian delegation held a meeting with the World Bank President, Mr Ajay Banga, to discuss issues of mutual interest and world bank programmes in Ghana.
Dr Ernest Addison, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, (BoG), Dr Maxwell Opoku Afari, First Deputy Governor and officials from BoG, MoF and the World Bank were present at the meeting which was held behind closed doors.
Earlier on Monday, the Ghanaian delegation held a meeting with Mr Ousman Diagana, Vice President of the Bank and his team where they held extensive discussions on the state of the economy, the world Bank projects in Ghana and how the bank could assist Ghana sustain its growth and development.
Welcoming the team, Mr Diagana commended Ghana for the sustained efforts to ensure the IMF PC-PEG programme is on course and, particularly, for reaching staff level agreement with IMF team.
Dr Amin Adam led the delegation to brief the World Bank Team on efforts to sustain the growth trajectory, especially, on revenue and expenditure, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, energy challenges and mitigating programmes, social protection, and small and medium sized enterprise financing.
Dr Amin Adam and Dr Addison expressed government appreciation to the Bank for their support which had seen the remarkable improvement in the economy. END
