Manhyia Palace, 20th February 2024 - Minister for Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has reiterated government’s solid commitment to ensure ongoing development projects in the Ashanti Region were completed on time.
“We are committed to bringing urgency and speed to all our development projects in the region, especially in the area of roads,” the Minister said.
The Minister made these remarks when he paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei -Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Hon. Amin Adam noted that Ashanti Region was especially, important to the economic growth of the country, hence, government’s unalloyed commitment to ensure it received its fair share of the national cake.
He assured Asantehene of the President’s strong commitment to complete projects like the Kumasi International Airport, Komfo Anokye Maternity Block, the Kejetia Market, and other projects at various stages of completion.
The Minister commended Asantehene for his exceptional leadership that has ensured peace and development in the region and in other parts of the country.
“As your grandson, I appreciate your role in sustaining national peace and the impact of your education fund to needy children, for these and more, we say thank you” he added.
The Minister who called Manhyia Palace his second home indicated that his visit was also to seek the blessing and wise counsel from ‘the great’ in these challenging times.
“Soon after my appointment, I knew this palace was going to be a constant place of visit because of the wisdom God has endeared you with” he said.
On his part, the Asantehene commended the Minister for taking time to visit his region and urged him to come up with innovative ways to turn the fortunes of the economy around.
He charged him to continue to work in unison with the team at his disposal at the Ministry since he was already familiar with them.
“I monitored your good works at the Ministry of Energy and believe the President saw something good in you so work hard to justify it,” the Asantehene said.
The Asantehene assured him of the region’s support and encouraged him to continue to let humility and hard work be his hall mark.
A Deputy Minister at the Ministry, John Kumah, Chief Director Eva Mends, and other officials of the Ministry accompanied the Minister.
The Minister earlier on paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei-Mensah and later inspected the ongoing Kumasi International Airport project and the Komfo Anokye Hospital Maternity Block which were under construction and interacted with the contractors. END
