Accra, September 27, 2017 - The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, has disclosed that a special highlight of the 2018 budget will be the inclusion of SDGs saying, “SDGs will undergird the 2018 budget”.
He disclosed further that the 2018 budget statement and economic policy will focus on agriculture and entrepreneurship. “2018 will be the year of the culture of entrepreneurship, that starter ups would be supported to spur people on to that direction”, he said.
The Minister said these during the Ministry of Finance 3rd Quarter Durbar held in Accra.
Ken Ofori-Atta who chaired the function, advised staff to exercise the highest sense of professionalism in the remit of their duties to God the nation and mankind. He advised them to eschew bribery and corruption and at all times try to live beyond reproach in the discharge of their duties.
Responding to concerns raised by staff, the Chief Director hinted of a major facelift of MoF which, he said, will commence before the end the year. The facelift, he said, was meant to address security lapses at the Ministry.
He said a staff bus had been procured to help alleviate transportation challenges faced by staff.
The Deputy Minister, Kwaku Kwarteng (MP), on behalf of his colleague Deputy Minister’s, thanked staff for the support rendered. He said as politicians, there was so much for which they relied on Civil Servants and as such, was grateful for the support given.
The durbar was well attended, by staff and management, a special feature was the open forum during which staff ask Management questions relating to their jobs and welfare. END
